S2S 8.31.25 Update

Rob Wheeler
August 31, 2025

As Rog and Lisa, Frank and Kim, Dr. Youngs and Matt, Anita, and all our Zambian partners recover from what seemed from my vantage point to be a wonderful time together, the work here in Iowa finished the month of August on a very positive note. Rog and I met with Tracy, our ZIAP agronomist partner, Friday morning, and preparations are underway for a BUNCH of training over the coming months. With ZIAP's expertise and training manual, combined with our oversight and logistics support, we have hopes that THOUSANDS of Zambian maize growers will benefit from what Tracy learned in country last growing season.

We hope to have even more exciting news related to the potential for the Zambian Ministry of Agriculture potentially taking advantage of our distribution and oversight system before the growing season, but we will just tease that for now.

In the meantime, we finish August having impacted nearly 3,500 families with life-saving food and having completed our NINTH clean water project of 2025 (26th since our inception nearly five years ago). And we look forward to a similar impact in September, even as we gear up for our part in the training/inputs season ahead. Here in America, our mission connected with FIVE new donors, and we added TWO new RECURRING MONTHLY donors.

This week's image is from a very small church in rural Chipata - one of the FIFTY new churches added this harvest season. This church with only 65 members reports 20 vulnerable households, and you can see EIGHT of those families will have more food with their meals over the next month. That's our mission. To share from our surplus into the deficits of our brothers and sisters in Zambia.

One more quick item: some of you have signed up to receive by email these updates and newsletters, and you are wondering why you aren't receiving them. That would be because we build our new website to provide this connection, but we don't have the engine built behind it to actually SEND those out. We are working on getting that oversight corrected. In the meantime, I will continue to post to both the S2S Facebook page and then share on my personal Facebook page.

Thanks so much for your interest and love!
